New Committee of Management

A new Otway Coast Committee was inducted by senior Department of Sustainability & Environment officers in Apollo Bay on Friday 6th of July 2012.

The induction followed an Expression of Interest and interview process conducted over the last few months.

The new committee is appointed by the State Government Minister for Environment & Climate Change the Hon. Ryan Smith under the Crown Land (reserves) Act 1978, for a term of three years.

The committee functions under State Government legislation and policy to manage the coastal Crown land reserves between Wye River / Separation Creek and Marengo for the benefit of all Victorians. Fundamental policy directions include managing for the protection of the environment, in a sustainable manner that allows for appropriate public use. Primarily management policy is derived from the 'Hierarchy of Principles' in the Victorian Coastal Strategy.

The OCC's vision for its role is "Otway Coast Committee will conserve & enhance coastal biodiversity and resilience while encouraging community access"

The new committee members are: Andrew Buchanan (Chairman), Robyn Adams (Deputy Chair), Di Clark, Geoff Quinn, Mark Kininmonth & Jenni Johnson.
