31st May 2012 - New Skenes Creek Beach Access, New Fishing Platform for Kennett River
New Skenes Creek Beach Access
The Skenes Creek Advancement Association in partnership with the OCC has been working with John Hotchin from the Geelong Anglers Club over the last couple of years to secure funding to formalise the beach access from the Great Ocean Road to the beach opposite Bass Crescent.
The Snapper Rocks beach access was a project that Murray Champion had been passionate about for a number of years and for which it would be fair to say he was the driving force.
The OCC was informed early last week that the funding application has been successful and work on the access is expected to be completed before the end of the year.
New Fishing Platform for Kennett River
Similar to the above project, the OCC has been working with John Hotchin from the Geelong Anglers Club to secure funding to build a fishing platform on the bank of the Kennett River.
The platform will be located on the southern bank of the river upstream from the Great Ocean Road bridge.
The platform will provide a facility that will complement existing picnic facilities at the site for people fishing or just wanting to sit and enjoy the river; hopefully an addition that will be enjoyed by visitors and locals alike.
Both these projects were successful on their second attempts and we owe a thanks to John Hotchin for has perseverance in following these projects to a successful outcome. The works are valued at approximately $35,000.
